About Marie-Claude

Marie-Claude Rioux is a self-taught artist born in 1992 in Grand-Falls, but now lives in Saint-Jacques, New-Brunswick. She got accepted in the fine arts program of the University of Ottawa after graduating form high school in 2010. After completing a semester, she decided to switch programs and universities to study social sciences at the University of Moncton concentrating on sociology, philosophy and psychology. After earning her degree, she gravitated back towards her first passion of visual arts and is now working on becoming a full-time artist working on commissions and original pieces. Her interest in the human psyche has pushed her towards portraits and figurative art, but she has also started integrating still life in her practice inspired by the works of fellow New-Brunswick born artist, Mary Pratt.  She participated in her first group exhibition in March 2023.
